Additional health risks include heart episodes, strokes, weight reduction, malnutrition, fluid buildup in the lungs, and death. Methamphetamine can be a highly addictive drug. It could damage nerve cells, thus causing mental impairment. Withdrawal results in abdominal cramps, gastroenteritis, headaches, lethargy, breathing troubles, increased urge for food, and profound depression .. Amphetamines Methamphetamine, known as crystal also, meth, crystal meth, ice, tina, and crank, is an amphetamine derivative with identical stimulant properties. Ice began as a significant drug problem in Japan. It first appeared in Hawaii and California in the mid 1980s and has now become one of the top illicit drugs in the West and Midwest. The research was completed in collaboration with Dr. Arnold Reuser who functions in the Erasmus MC, Netherlands. With Dr. Reusers' help, a stored cell sample from an affected Swedish Lapphund born in the 1970s was also tested already. This dog was affected by the same mutation as the Finnish Lapphunds. Finnish Lapphund, Swedish Lapphund and Lapponian Herder have common ancestors from the original reindeer-herding dog population. Therefore one aim was to find the mutation frequency among current Lapponian and Lapphund Herder populations. A carrier regularity of 5 percent among Finnish Lapphunds and 2 percent among Lapponian Herders was uncovered by testing approximately 100 dogs from both breeds. In addition, a total of 34 Swedish Lapphunds from Finland, Norway and Sweden were tested. All of these dogs were healthy and didn’t carry the mutation.
